Striving for perfection

Have you ever wondered why you keep making the same mistakes?

No matter how many times you tell yourself it’s a new day, I will change my ways, those old behaviors come back to bite you when you least expect it.

When it shows up you get angry at yourself because you allowed it to creep in once again. It can be emotionally debilitating if you allow it to rule who you are as a person.

We ask others for advice and we still resort to doing the same thing over and over again.

What’s that about?

We strive for perfection when it’s unattainable. Let’s face it, none of us will ever be perfect inwardly or outwardly. So learn to accept yourself with all your warts.

You can’t stop being who you are but improving your behaviors and the choices you make is crucial to living a better life.

The Choices we make

Everyday we live in a world of choices. Whether right or wrong, good or bad, we own it.

Every night I lay awake examining my behaviors and decisions for that day.

I tell myself tomorrow will be better. My goal is always to be a better version of the day before. Do I have relapses? Sure but I never stop trying. That’s what it means to be human.

We are imperfect beings on a trip called life learning and hopefully growing from our mistakes. If those mistakes are repeated, we get another chance to improve day after day, month after month, year after year.

So why do we make the same mistakes?

It sounds tiring but we are like children forever learning, and forever growing in mind, body and soul.

We have a God who forgives and accepts us as we are but nevertheless wants us to improve the quality of our lives everyday according to his words.

We will never be perfect but we can strive to be who we’d like to be. Don’t allow the mistakes of your past rule your day. Tomorrow is always a new day..
