RESTLESS

children1

He was no more than ten years old as he pranced restlessly around the department store. His mother and sister were shopping for a new handbag and his patience was wearing thin. Mom promised to take him out to  dinner when she finished making her purchase. But he just couldn’t stop moving.

I observed them as they approached the register to make their purchase. His mom and sister were talking about the color of their handbag and whether or not they made the right decision. Still restless and uncontrollable, his mother tried to get his attention in order to calm him down. Then out of no where, he blurted out, “I wish I had never been born.”

What on earth would posses a child so young to make such a negative statement? His life experience is only at the beginning stages. Yet, I was totally surprised at his words. Apparently, his poor mother was so shocked, she was speechless. As she continued to make her purchase, you could tell from her expression, her heart was broken. She told her son, she no longer wanted to go out to dinner and they would go home.

I intervened and talked to him about his statement. I also asked him whether or not God would approve of this behavior. After we spoke briefly to one another, I asked him to ask for forgiveness. He was so eager to make things right because he really wanted to make peace with mom and go out to dinner.

I wondered, what was going on in the mind of this child which would cause him to feel this way? Restless, but not enough to go so deep spiritually, cutting to the core of his soul. It bothered me and I continued to think about him all day. We will never know, but God Knows.

Life is so short and everyday it seems like it’s getting shorter. He has so much to live for and yet without thinking, his words got the best of him.

He is a child, but I think about grownups whose life is impacted due to the life they are living. Unfortunately, they’ve seen another side of life, that most of us don’t see everyday. That’s why, it’s so important to pray for others who are suffering through hardships.

We are blessed in so many ways, and yet it takes a small child unknowingly to remind us of the hurts other people are experiencing. It’s so easy to be comfortable in our own life while forgetting to counsel and lift others up who so desperately need our help.

Nugget of Truth: not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interest of the others.

Step into the Light

universe-1044106_640

Brighter than Stars

As new as can be

We are all on a journey

To be all we can be

Stepping into the light

And out of the darkness

Which seeks to divide

And bring nothing but sadness

Looking up to they sky

Fighting hard to survive

Seeking, always searching

To understand why

Giving thanks and praise

To a God who’s familiar

with all our ways

As we boldly step into the light above

To a God who’s always

filled with love

He Lifted us up from impossibilities

To an incredible world

Of numerous possibilities

Open our eyes, open our heart

Help us to be, all we can be

Stepping into the light

And out of the darkness

We look up and not down

No longer looking

Towards the Madness.

My Mother Dearest

I almost lost my mother recently. After being rushed to the hospital, she was diagnosed with a stroke. Mom’s been battling her illnesses for many years, and little by little its been taking a toll on her body. My mom is a fighter and thank God for it, as she is slowly pulling through this last bombardment to her body. We take so much in life for granted. What if mom didn’t survive this incident? Time Out in Everyday Life

Taking a break in between life stresses

inspiration-1514296_640

Taking time out of your busy day is beneficial to your physical and spiritual well-being. If you make it habitual, you will be able to think more clearly and creatively. Life will be more enjoyable if you tap into that alone time.

My time out is early in the morning, reflecting and reading the word of God. If I miss that time connecting and praying, I feel stressed out throughout the day.  For example, I woke up a few days ago, and instead of reaching for my bible, I took the television remote in hand and flipped through the channels. Intrigued by the medias political assessment of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, I was trapped, trying to listen to different viewpoints of our Presidential candidates.

When I realized I hadn’t taken the time to pray, to be honest I was so caught up with the program, I tried to squeeze my reading into a commercial. Guilt started to take a hold of me and I said to myself, “God is more than a commercial and deserves quality time.”

Now before you judge me, this is not my usual behavior. However I recognized what I was doing, turned off the television and proceeded with my time out to meditate. I felt relieved and was ready to start my day. My time alone gives me peace of mind and is one of the best parts of my day.

This is one of my ways of having time out and setting my day. I also go to the movies alone, spend time with friends, spa, sit by a lake observing nature, and long walks. How about the rest of us? What can you implement in your life to take time out? I am talking about everyday life, not the time we are given for vacation.

We are all so busy with work and family, that we scurry throughout the day, failing to recognize we all need to stop, think, relax and just breathe. Even for a moment, learn to be still, clear your thoughts, take time out from the busyness of life. I can honestly say I enjoy my time out. It puts me in a better frame of mind, mentally and spiritually while giving me the ability to write more creatively.

Success in life is about being the best you can be inspite of your journey.

Do you have any creative ideas for time out?

A Simple Prayer

Dear Lord, help me to see life more clearly,

All that I am and ever will be belongs to you,

Forgive me in all my ways that are not pleasing,

Help me become more devoted to following your ways

Change my heart, O Lord

Help me to walk with a servants heart,

Loving my fellow man,

Renew my spirt, and increase my Faith

Let the words of my mouth

Speak the truth

Thank you for all your blessings

May we never take anything in this life for granted.
