Monday Morning Blues

Here we go again

Sunday was such a beautiful day especially this time of the year.

The sun was shining, birds was singing and it was such a warm and refreshing day.

I was extremely inspired to do something anything but sit home.

People are much nicer this time of the year.

After all it’s spring…

This season brings out the best in people and it shows.

There are many cars on the road causing slower traffic movements.

But who cares…it’s Sunday, time to go out and have some fun.

Wow, how time flys..

Pretty soon you’re prepping for the inevitable..

The Monday morning blues. It’s time to get back to work or school or anything in between.

I don’t know what it is about Monday’s that just makes my jaws drop.

You go from a Friday high to a Monday low.

The thought of resetting your life back to one of working for the next few days on a job that is mediocre at best makes my skin crawl.

Don’t worry I’m working on that aspect of my life…seriously all kidding aside…

You should to if you’re not happy where you are…

Know where you are going and have a plan.

Live your passion and maybe Mondays will inspire your dreams rather than crippling your thinking.

That’s the great motivator to improving the quality of your life.

By Tuesday you’re set in you’re groove and you’re great. Ready to put your pedal to the metal.

You’re already prepping for the next weekend…

Thank God it’s only a few hours before your day is finally over.

Here’s to Tuesday….

Surrender

toia-montes-de-oca-345720-unsplashSome things are out of your control no matter how hard you try..

In life, when doing your best is just not good enough it’s time to surrender. What’s a person to do?

When you try your best to take care of your family and you feel like you’re being pulled in different directions, surrender. You may feel at times doing your best is just not good enough.

When you’re working hard to build a new or old relationship and your best is just not good enough, surrender.

When you work hard at your job and no matter how much you contribute, your boss is never happy with your work, surrender.

When you’re studying and working hard at school to do your best and your teacher or Professor gives you a low grade, surrender.

To all those struggling to do their best…

What the heck, sometimes your best is just not good enough so go ahead and surrender..

Surrender to the fact that no one is perfect so all you can give is your best.

Have peace knowing there are some things you can’t change and others you can depending on the circumstances.

Surrender, learn to let it go or it will get the best of you if you allow it to destroy your thinking.

Make the necessary changes in order to be effective and happy with who you are and your contributions.

Then surrender and be happy knowing you have done all that you can possibly do in any given situation.

If your best is still not good enough, hang in there and surrender, turn it over to the God above and have serenity knowing you have done your best.

I tried to do my best and if my best is not good enough so be it..

A crisis at hand

IMG-20170920-WA0018When a crisis strikes in other locations around the world, are you empathetic and compassionate about the victims plight? What if anything are you willing to do to help those in need.

IMG-20170920-WA0005

I had a reality check recently when Hurricane Maria rolled over the Island of Dominica. It caused such devastation that I decided to take an active role in participating in their recovery. Maybe one of the primary reasons, it’s the land of my birth and I have family still living there to date. But don’t get me wrong, I have donated to many other causes who came knocking.

There are several ways to be of service, but I decided to start a go fund me account to aid them with some of their basic needs.

The desperation of these people because of a lack of food, water and housing touched my heart therefore I went to work connecting with as many people as possible to get the word out for immediate donations.  What I learned from this experience shocked me into reality.

People, even the ones who are considered your closest friends, aren’t always willing to give even a small donation. I know we all have certain things we are struggling through in our lives. Believe me, I get it.. Then again in this country, we are blessed with a roof over our heads and food on our table. I  guess I was being really naive in thinking friends, family and even strangers, would be ready willing and able to put their money towards Dominica’s recovery. After all, it’s not their problem…

There are some people who I thank from the bottom of my heart that stepped up to the plate. One woman in particular, my coworker who has been extremely passionate in getting the word out to her friends and family. There are also others who helped as well but they are a small minority.

Why are we so complacent, when it comes to helping others in need? I’m not referring to the same people who give time and time again.  We fail to see the urgency in various crisis because we’re not impacted by some of these disasters. In reality, it is the Caribbean today and it might be us tomorrow waiting and hoping someone else will give us a helping hand.

hands-459442_1280I pray that you open you hearts and wallets to help those who are not only in Dominica, but others all over the world who are impacted through various disasters. If you’re interested in helping Dominica please look for the Dominica recovery fund at go fund me. The people of Dominica will appreciate your help. Every drop of kindness in the bucket means someone else will have food and water for sustenance. God bless You….

Do it your way

SUCCESS

Do it your way….

Setting goals and trying to be like the over achievers in our world is not for everyone. Success comes in many forms and it can be as simple as doing something you’ve never done before.

Do it your way and on your own terms. You’re the only one who can define what being successful means to you. If you try to live your life based on other people’s opinion of what your life should be, you will live a life of disappointment.

Find the truth of what being successful means to you as an individual. Stop trying to be someone who doesn’t feel comfortable in their own skin because of social pressures. The world’s view of being successful does not dictate who we are or what kind of life we would like to live in the future. We all have a different road to travel which will take us to our ultimate destination.

What does success look like for you?

I never want to do that again

I never want to do that againWho are we kidding? It’s the same story we tell ourselves over and over again in order to change our behavior, yet it remains the same. Amazingly, without realizing it, our lives are being impacted like a scene out of the Twilight Zone.

Traffic Jam

This morning, I woke up at my normal time and got ready for work in my usual manner. Side tracked with a minor problem, I left the house a little later than usual. I wish I can say this is the first time but there are everyday distractions which holds my attention every now and then. To my surprise, when I got on the Highway, there was an inordinate amount of traffic due to lane closures for pothole repair.

Beat The Clock

I got off the next exit in order to find a way around the traffic. Time was running out and I was driving a little faster than normal. Feeling stressed and trying to beat the clock, I went through several towns in order to get back on the Highway. Isn’t it funny in life when you’re running late, it never fails, there is always a truck driving very slowly, a person who is in retirement mode on a Sunday morning drive or someone going shopping on their day off in front of you. So while in your mind, you’re in the fast lane at 80 miles an hour, tense with your heart racing to get to work on time, they are driving 20 miles an hour. Ouch!

I pulled into the parking lot and got out of my car running fast as if my life depended on it, I made it just in the nick of time. Out of breath and trying to compose myself, I said, “I never want to do that again.” Really, it’s not the first time and it may not be the last. Life has a way of knocking you off your feet when you least expect it.

How many times do we tell ourselves we will never do the following:

  • We will never eat more than our stomach can handle. Then we eat more and more until we are uncomfortable and our stomach is bloated.
  • We will never be late for work to the point where rushing becomes a habit every morning. Unfortunately for some of us, it becomes a habit which is hard to break.
  • We will never spread gossip or slander our neighbor.
  • We will never spend more than we can afford. Have you looked at your credit cards lately?
  • We will never drink to get drunk to the point where it affects our ability to function in a normal manner. Hangovers is not particularly fun.
  • We will never drive over the speed limit and then suddenly you get pulled over for speeding.
  • We will never fight with our spouse, friends, or coworkers if possible, OOPS!

There are so many things in our life which we wish we can change. Unfortunately, if you do something habitually, it becomes a habit which is hard to break. It’s not impossible as long as we are willing to commit to making changes in order to break the cycle. For instance, I could have made a decision to leave my house a little earlier in order to compensate for any problems that may arise. But sometimes its easier to keep doing the same thing over and over again without thinking of the consequences that may result from this pattern of behavior. I believe at this juncture of our lives, its time to break the cycle and commit to making the changes which will make life more bearable.

Have you ever had one of those moments you wish you could change?
