Who is leading the charge of mankind into battle? The battle for our hearts and minds have been going on for centuries. There is so much hatred in our world today against mother, brother, sister, and friends. Who or what is leading this charge? What are we watching and listening to which shifts our consciousness from love to hatred. Think about it, for in the beginning we were united in love from the first human beings, Adam and Eve. Now we are divided, misled and deceived by the world around us which is constantly changing. So, who is leading this charge of wars, greed by our corporations and deception by our politicians? Are you living on empty?
There is a beautiful pristine lake nestled near a small town not too far from where I live. Last fall, due to the lack of rain, it started to recede and the water level was very low. There were patches of land peaking above the water, also in areas near the shore.
Fast forward to the winter rain and snow which increased the water levels revealing a lake filled with fresh water reaching normal levels.
Living on Empty
Are you living on empty? When I thought about the lake, I started to think about our spiritual life. It’s so easy to live in a way where our spiritual side is unbalanced and slowly drying up like the lake above. At that point we start to lose the “fruit of the spirit which is “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” The darker side of life slowly seeps in and before you know it, life slowly begins to take a nose dive. Living your life with joy is beginning to be more of a chore than pleasure. That’s because you’re running on empty.
Filling your spiritual Tank
We can’t wait till our spiritual tank is near empty before we begin to fill it with the things which makes life worth living. Besides our day-to-day life of work, and family, we need to take the time to nourish our spirituality. Otherwise, we will begin to feel unhappy, depressed, with very little energy. When was the last time you had a spiritual check up? Are you on life support? Or are you operating on normal levels?
Filling our spiritual tank starts by living each day to the fullest while practicing and living in the “fruit of the spirit.” It is also getting in touch with our inner man deep within and connecting with who we really are as an individual. Do the things which makes you happy. Take the time to recognize all that’s going on around you, good bad or indifferent, and yet realizing it’s what made you the person you are today.
Your spirituality also consists of accepting yourself with all your imperfections, knowing we are here to learn from our mistakes. Connect with nature whenever possible which will bring more clarity to your mind. Think about going on spiritual retreats which will help you focus on the positive aspects of life. As I’ve said in, previous blogs it’s very important to have time spent alone to think, breathe, pray and connect with your Creator.
Nugget of Truth: “It is the Spirit who gives life, the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.
John 6:63
Step into the Light
Brighter than Stars
As new as can be
We are all on a journey
To be all we can be
Stepping into the light
And out of the darkness
Which seeks to divide
And bring nothing but sadness
Looking up to they sky
Fighting hard to survive
Seeking, always searching
To understand why
Giving thanks and praise
To a God who’s familiar
with all our ways
As we boldly step into the light above
To a God who’s always
filled with love
He Lifted us up from impossibilities
To an incredible world
Of numerous possibilities
Open our eyes, open our heart
Help us to be, all we can be
Stepping into the light
And out of the darkness
We look up and not down
No longer looking
Towards the Madness.
My Mother Dearest
I almost lost my mother recently. After being rushed to the hospital, she was diagnosed with a stroke. Mom’s been battling her illnesses for many years, and little by little its been taking a toll on her body. My mom is a fighter and thank God for it, as she is slowly pulling through this last bombardment to her body. We take so much in life for granted. What if mom didn’t survive this incident? Time Out in Everyday Life
Taking a break in between life stresses
Taking time out of your busy day is beneficial to your physical and spiritual well-being. If you make it habitual, you will be able to think more clearly and creatively. Life will be more enjoyable if you tap into that alone time.
My time out is early in the morning, reflecting and reading the word of God. If I miss that time connecting and praying, I feel stressed out throughout the day. For example, I woke up a few days ago, and instead of reaching for my bible, I took the television remote in hand and flipped through the channels. Intrigued by the medias political assessment of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, I was trapped, trying to listen to different viewpoints of our Presidential candidates.
When I realized I hadn’t taken the time to pray, to be honest I was so caught up with the program, I tried to squeeze my reading into a commercial. Guilt started to take a hold of me and I said to myself, “God is more than a commercial and deserves quality time.”
Now before you judge me, this is not my usual behavior. However I recognized what I was doing, turned off the television and proceeded with my time out to meditate. I felt relieved and was ready to start my day. My time alone gives me peace of mind and is one of the best parts of my day.
This is one of my ways of having time out and setting my day. I also go to the movies alone, spend time with friends, spa, sit by a lake observing nature, and long walks. How about the rest of us? What can you implement in your life to take time out? I am talking about everyday life, not the time we are given for vacation.
We are all so busy with work and family, that we scurry throughout the day, failing to recognize we all need to stop, think, relax and just breathe. Even for a moment, learn to be still, clear your thoughts, take time out from the busyness of life. I can honestly say I enjoy my time out. It puts me in a better frame of mind, mentally and spiritually while giving me the ability to write more creatively.
Success in life is about being the best you can be inspite of your journey.
Do you have any creative ideas for time out?
