Don’t forget to write

If you’ve never put pen to paper before, here is some reasons to start writing…

WRITING IS NOT JUST FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE WRITERS, BLOGGERS OR AUTHORS…

It’s for anyone who has something to say…

Writing down your thoughts on paper with a pen as you express your deep feelings is a great way to relax.

  • It improves your mood if you had a bad day.
  • Your stress level will decrease as you pour out your concerns on the page.
  • What a wonderful way to meditate without the usual methods.
  • Helps with depression and anxiety.
  • It will allow you to focus and see life more clearly.
  • This is your quiet time which allows you to be calm.
  • When you are angry…write it’s a great way to find some relief.
  • It encourages us to be more creative.
  • Writing is also influential on how we think.

Every situation you find yourself in gives you an opportunity to write. It’s therapeutic and can lead to a more positive outlook on life.

Nancy Olson, a Forbes life writer confirmed writing by hand is a powerful tool for learning. It also increases neural activity in certain sections of the brain.

When I had to study in college, the only way I would remember anything was to write it down.

For some reason my brain connected more to the information when I actually took the time to write rather than just using memorization.

Amazingly after all these years, this is my go to skill if I need to learn anything.

Try it! It actually works because you are not only using your brain, you are using your writing to remember the information.

I have been writing by hand for many years and I can definitely attest to the fact that it’s very rewarding.

Do you remember when people actually wrote letters to one another?

It may be you were to young to remember or it didn’t happen in your time.

It was a time of innocence meaning we did not have the technology that’s available today.

People who wanted to communicate in a meaningful way to friends, family or lovers, wrote and mailed letters.

We wrote, wrote and wrote some more and was very excited when we received a letter back in the mail.

Our hearts were on display in pen and ink and it felt good. We enjoyed the art of writing.

Of course if you received a bad letter, well you know what I mean…

Remember the movie Miracle on 34th street, the people wrote letters to Santa to get their point across to the Judge.

WHY DO WE WRITE?

So my point is this, writing is another way to express yourself. It is for anyone who wants to find another way to destress.

Don’t forget to write…

It’s not just for writers…Yes anyone who chooses can write.

Before getting out of bed to start my day, I find myself reaching for my journal to write about anything that concerns me

These past two years has been very trying and I am so thankful that writing has given me a way to say exactly what’s on my mind without being judged.

The ability to go deeper below the surface of my mind has given me time to examine my life while making positive changes.

It has been the most rewarding experience and helps me to relax before starting my day.

Our mind can become cluttered with thoughts we find very difficult to express with others.

But when you really allow yourself to let go by writing down your thoughts, its very liberating.

Hence the name, don’t forget to write because so many of us live our lives stuck in busyness.

We forget to take time to really get slow down and get to know who we are inside and out.

Taking time to open up to other possibilities and even finding answers to your most pressed questions could be found by allowing your mind to expand in another direction.

Writing might not be your thing, but its definitely a form of relaxation for those who would take the chance to explore it.

Even for the novice who is new to journaling, it will begin to change your life in more ways than one..

Writing is like meditation when you allow yourself to get lost in your thoughts, you would be surprised at what you learn.

By taking some time each day to write down your feelings, it will be very beneficial as you search within your soul for your life’s most pressing challenges.

IT’S VALENTINE’S DAY…WRITE A LOVE LETTER TO SOMEONE YOU LOVE. WATCH THEIR REACTION…

Have you ever lost a New Post?

I can’t believe what happened to me today. It was my day off so I thought I would spend my day writing a new post.

For those of you who are writers and bloggers, you know how time consuming putting together a post can be. But when you love to write, it’s a labor of love.

I did all my research and spent several hours editing and making sure everything looked great.

Just as I completed my tags and categories, I went back to hit publish and it was gone..

Unfortunately I was left with a revision I did a couple of weeks ago. At first I tried to recover it myself.

I contacted support and they tried to help me find the missing post.

They tried to retrieve it but all they found was the old revision. I just wanted to cry.

Has this ever happened to anyone else?

I’ve been blogging for a couple of years and this is the first time anything like this has happened to me.

I felt my whole day was a waste of precious time…

If anyone can give me suggestions for future posts, I would appreciate it..

I never want to go through that again….

Perhaps others can learn from my experience.

Life without Money

Imagine…what would your life look like if money didn’t exist?

All our lives we’ve been chasing the dollar to the point where we’re divided rather than united.

Start thinking out of the box…

Everytime you leave your home you are spending money.

What would your world look like if money was not the main focus of your existence?

Refreshing your New Years Resolution

Do you know where you’re going to? Do you like the things that life is showing you? Where are you going to.. do you know?

That was the theme song from the movie Mahogany starring Diana Ross and Billy Dee Williams written several years ago. It’s still relevant even today.

When Diana Ross sang that song, I was hooked and I began to ask my younger self some of these serious life questions.

You might as well say it motivated me to change the course of my life.

Now that my kids are grown, and life is moving in another direction, I’m beginning to ask myself the same hard questions.
Do you know where you’re going to? Do you like the things that life is showing you? Where are you going to..Do you know?

Refreshing your Resolutions

What is it about the New Year which gets us all so excited?

A New year prepares our hearts and minds to rethink the past year and to make new changes for the coming year.

The old year is gone with whatever positive or negative experiences we had along the way. It’s time to wake up and be optimistic about a better and brighter future.

We pray and believe this is the year our life is going to change. For a very small percentage of people, with a real sense of purpose, they go from being a caterpillar into a butterfly.

Statistically speaking, 97% of the population make New Years Resolutions and never follow through on their intended goals.
Why do we even bother making resolutions of we don’t intend to keep it?

It’s like running a race. Ready, Set, Go! In the beginning of the year we’re so excited to make changes. Somewhere between the starting and finish line, our goals begin to fade.

I understand because I’ve also been down that road many times and I’ve made some progress. Honestly, I’m still not where I would like to be because I’m still working on my dream.

I’ll tell you something else you already know…

Life will never change unless you decide to make a change. It’s much easier to give up rather than to keep going.

Year after year, you may find yourself in the same place you were the year before. Your New Years resolution may look like this.

1. Lose weight

2. Exercise…Join a Gym

3. Start a Business

This is merely an example, however ask yourself this question. How did my life change in 2018? What worked or didn’t work?
How can I challenge myself to get to the finish line?
It’s time to refresh your resolutions and make the necessary changes in order to succeed.

  • Keep it simple…A long list of resolutions overwhelms one state of mind. So therefore keep it short and simple.
  • Setting goals…break your 2-3 goals into workable small steps. Taking smaller steps will keep you on track. For example, if you intend on losing 50lbs this year, don’t try to do it all at once. Try 1lb a week which is workable. There are 52 weeks in a year. Even with some cheating you are sure on your way to completing your goal. Worst case scenario you lose 25lbs, but it’s still an accomplishment.
  • Day timer…Make a schedule of your goals along with your usual daily routine in the same book. This will allow you to keep a good balance between home and your personal goals without over extending yourself.
  • Be consistent…Follow through and be consistent in your actions. If you start one day and continue a month later or not at all, that will set you back. You will find yourself struggling to start again and you might quit in the process. Think about how many people sign up for a gym memberships and quit within a very short period of time. Consistency is the key to making progress that drives and motivates you to completing your goal. It’s like driving a car, if you don’t put your foot on the gas pedal, the car isn’t going anywhere.
  • Permission…Give yourself permission to skip days in between without feeling guilty. That’s your treat and cheat day. Then stay on track. The main thing is that you don’t give up and you hold on in order to accomplish your goal.
  • Visualize…See yourself finishing your race and all the perks that will come with it whether its financial freedom, free time or a great vacation.
  • The sky is the limit… This is your year to move in the direction of your intended goals for your life. Stay on track and keep moving forward. I know it’s easier to give up rather than to keep going. Tell yourself by this time next year I will be……..
  • Take action…Refuse to stand still in the same place year after year. refresh revitalize, and restore your intended goals.

Don’t live your life adding to the pile of lost dreams for another year. I know you will succeed if you do not quit. I’m rooting for you as well as myself.. Yes we can!

Season Greetings

celebrate-2953723_640Open your heart and open your eyes, watch the beauty of the season with all its magic unfold. The month of December creeps in at the end of every year with holidays and holy days.

Some of us celebrate with Christmas trees, tinsel and decorations. Yet, depending on your culture, it’s a precious celebration of your holy day. Whatever it may be to you, may you enjoy the season.

The Hustle and Bustle

The Hustle and bustle of finding the perfect gift can be daunting. Online purchases has made shopping more convenient for people with time constraints.

Skip the trip to the mall and use the precious time you have available to spend time with family  and friends. Sip on some hot chocolate while enjoying heart to heart conversations.

Home sweet home

There is nothing like going home after work to a warm home decorated for the season. In December, the coolness of the season gives you such warmth and enthusiasm.

My favorite thing to do is to listen to Christmas songs  and watch the Christmas shows on the Hallmark channel while I snuggle under my special throw blanket. What a cozy feeling….

Season Greetings

I wish you all the best this season and I pray for blessings for you and your family. May God direct your path as you continue on your journey to 2019.

Remember the best gift does not come in a box. It comes from above from our God and it’s called love. Please share this gift with others who have less by giving from your heart.

As a Christian I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas…
