As I looked at my life, I realized I was not living the life I truly wanted to live. I was going through the motion of day-to-day living, compiling my to do lists which by the way never seems to end and feeling empty, lost and frustrated about the routines surrounding my life. Am I really living the life I want to live? We all get caught up in our busyness and now we have even more distractions with all the technology that consumes our minds along with everything else to keep us locked into the matrix. Are we really living out our passions or have we become complacent and passive without reflecting on our hopes and dreams for the future? Some of us have fallen asleep and have to be awaken and enlightened from this inertia in order to move forward and be transformed into women in progress.
Recently I collected an assortment of magazine photos to get an idea of what my perfect life would look like in order to live a life of aspiration and contentment. So I created a vision board to help me focus on a new reality. For those of you who are not familiar with a vision board, it’s a powerful visualization tool that you can use as inspiration for your journey toward your ideal life. The pictures or words you collect and place on your board is full of hopes and dreams for your future. My vision board had pictures of interesting vacation destinations, money, health and fitness, spas and everything else I envisioned would become my best life.
Day after day, I focused and studied that board and tweaked it as my perspective changed for the future. For the first time, I had a very clear picture of the changes I wanted to make in order to move toward a new beginning. Amazingly, I didn’t recognize that with all my wants and needs for my future, after putting together a beautiful collage depicting my true desires there was still an emptiness. What was missing from all my hopes and dreams? Then I finally realized in all the photos I collected and placed on my board the only one that would hold my life together and would keep me on track to a life worth living is God. He is and should always be the most integral part of my new reality. What was I thinking and why didn’t I notice it before? Why was he left off my board? I had placed him in the background and not front and center of the new world I was envisioning. This was not done intentionally as he holds a special place in my heart. But how many of us consider God when we think about creating a better tomorrow? Is he the Front and center of our lives or on the sidelines?
As I googled vision boards, I wanted to grasp what other people were visualizing as they were contemplating their future. The majority of the boards created also left God out of their potpourri of pictures. I don’t believe it was done intentionally. We live our lives wanting, needing, collecting, and desiring, but is God our source? While I was considering my approach to writing this piece, to be honest, I wasn’t sure if God should be included as so many people have different ideas and beliefs about our Creator. But I wanted to remain true to who I am as a women in progress through my writings and follow my heart.
We are mothers, daughters, sisters and friends and as we visualize a new beginning, a season of change, let’s keep God dear to our hearts. Allow him to be your center thus creating a better world one person at a time. As we become more spiritually driven and less materialistic, we look forward to a brighter future of hope and change on a new road to life building relationships and helping others.
Nuggets Of Truth: We are all Women in Progress on a journey to reconstruct, reshape, and revitalize our present reality. If you’re not happy where you are, do something in order to make changes to improve the quality of your life.
God Grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can and a wisdom to know the difference.

Life is sometimes hard, even on the good days. Knowing someone else ‘gets it’ is a comfort. Try as we might ‘doing it alone’ is can be downright exhausting. When we are given the opportunity to feel we are not alone and instead are given tools to embrace our ‘best’ lives well that is just a blessing. Thanks Pat for your conviction of seeing and becoming the best you can be. We will follow by example. You always make me smile- Tracey
