Old Age can wait

Why are some people in a hurry to look and act older than their years? We are all going to grow older one day. So why be in a hurry?

What would life look like if you took on a different mindset?

I for one plan on hanging on as long as possible. So let’s try to change that stinking thinking…Old age can wait.

Life can be timeless and ageless as long as it’s done correctly. You don’t have to wear your mother or fathers wardrobe because you feel that’s how you’re suppose to dress at your current age.

Time has changed and women and men are looking and feeling younger than the previous generation.

I suspect the Millennials and the coming generations are also going to be more mindful about their appearance at every age. From the look of things, they’re already making strides in those areas.

They’re more active and are aggressively changing their approach to old age. They no longer want to look and feel like they are old when they can do things to update their appearance.

Thank God to the changing mindset of the baby boomer generation. They are also rethinking how they want to appear as they continue to age.

Here is a tip for people who are getting older and continue to live in a negative mindset.

Stop saying that you’re old because it will sink into your mind and you will live out the rest of your life that way.

Think more youthful thoughts because you are not what you are on the outside.  Inwardly, you are still that young man or woman you were years ago.

So don’t allow your appearance or your health to defeat you. Think positive thoughts…

Do whatever you can to keep yourself from falling apart….

We all want to look and feel younger as long as possible, so we’re willing to try various methods in order to look more youthful. Whether its medical advances for the fountain of youth, face-lifts, cosmetics or necklifts, todays aging population are focused on staying more youthful for as long as they are able.

Although I agree with some of the methodology, I am not looking forward to having a facelift any time soon.

Have you seen some of our entertainers lately who has gone under the knife? With all that money they have available to invest in plastic surgery, some of them come out looking like the joker on Batman.

So stay tuned…In the future, hopefully there will be better scientific approach of improving your youthful appearance at any age without looking like some doctor made a mistake by making you look like someone from another planet.

Then you also have the show called Botched where some people are addicted to changing their appearance. Unfortunately for them,  sometimes their face or body is so screwed up that the doctors on Botched have to try to repair the damage.

My point is this, if you’re going to do anything to alter your appearance, please use some common sense tactics. There are many ways to improve and maintain an ageless demeanor and believe me, it’s not always about going under the knife.

I have seen some older men and women dress with such good taste.  Fashion can improve your appearance by focusing on your awareness of colors and the latest styles and trends for every season. All you have to do is incorporate some of those trends into your wardrobe and you’re already a winner.

It’s  definitely my intention to follow their lead and never give in to the age factor. Until the grim reaper comes knocking on my door, I will live like a woman who forgot her age.

There are so many new skin products on the market that helps improve the texture of a woman’s skin. Hopefully they will increase the number of products for men as we move into the future.

By the way, I am one of those younger baby boomers who is often mistaken to be 15 to 20 years younger than her actual age. Yeah!

Age is but a number. Dress to impress and live to be ageless.

Please, if you are someone who enjoys sticking to the mindset of old age, don’t take this article the wrong way.  I’m merely exploring other options to the way we think about aging.

Working in the fashion industry for most of my adult life has given me a little more insight to people’s dressing habits.

I’ve been observing people and frankly I pay attention to what they are saying when it comes to their wardrobe. I also take notice of their age while looking at their clothing.

There’s definitely a disconnect. People feel because of their age, they have to dress a certain way. I get it! But you don’t have to dress like your grandparents.

Backpacks

This is just of an example of how people think when they shop for a particular item. The first thing they want to know, is whether or not it’s age appropriate. I understand but any item at any age can be worn as long as it is tastefully done. You have to use that common sense approach.

Who said backpacks are only for children and teenagers? I can’t tell you how many women over the years asked whether or not it was age appropriate. Designers are designing backpacks in leather, fabric and microfiber for women and men in any age group.

The Mindset

Change your mindset. “You’re only as old as you feel.” If you look old on the outside you’ll feel old on the inside. It’s like looking at a mirror of yourself and what you project, is what you get. If you look good, you’ll feel good.

Inside, you are very young at heart. You are still the same person even if the outside shows you’ve aged. So what! Embrace the new you by showing off with a wardrobe that will attract rather than deter.

Men and women who walk with confidence and belief in themselves are ageless at any age.

Tell me…What do you think?
